Please join us for the fall session of the Outer Coast Arts and Culture Community Roundtable. The program will build upon the discussions and outcomes from the spring session held in May 2023. Participation is free.

We encourage organization leads to attend along with at least one board member. Board participation, engagement and development are essential to the long-term success of our NFP sector.

 

November 17 | 7:00pm

§  Welcome from Saya Masso - Tribal Parks Alliance

§  Presentation: Shifting Systems: Adapting in a time of uncertainty; decolonizing and working towards equity. Providing insight on ways to decolonize your organization and the power and political impact of collaborative processes.

Presented by Carla Stephenson, the project lead for the Rural Arts Inclusion Lab (RAIL) a systems change project funded by the Vancouver Foundation. Carla has been working in small rural communities for over two decades, she is the co-founder of the Tiny Lights Festival and the Executive Director of Renascence Arts and Sustainability Society and a member of the ArtsBC Insight tea. Through her work with RAIL, Carla has been facilitating many conversations to address colonial systems that perpetuate inequality by design.

November 18 | 9am - 4pm

9:00am: Check-in (coffee/tea, baked goods)

9:30am: Welcome and Participant updates – check-in with organizational updates since May session

10:15am: Debrief and discussion on Friday evening presentation from Carla Stephenson

11:00am: Assess status of the three identified collaboration projects from the spring session

11:30am: Discuss value and opportunities created by aligning the various not-for-profit (NFP) sectors (e.g. arts and culture; environmental; social; event producers) within their primary focus areas to foster collaborative initiatives. Break into primary focus area groups to discuss alignment, collaboration, resource efficiencies, etc.

12:30pm: Lunch (provided on-site at Long Beach Lodge)

1:15pm: Share insights and ideas from primary focus area breakout groups.

  • Determine actions that will make our collaborative network and organizations stronger and more resilient.

  • What commitments can we all make to foster the growth, impact and benefits of the Outer Coast Arts and Culture Community Round table? (Artist Roundtable; Winter NFP Tradeshow)

2:45pm: Discuss and identify professional development workshops for the next 12 months that are of highest benefit to the NFP sector (e.g. board development; board governance; social media skills/promotions).

3:15pm: Feedback on the day. Review of actions/commitments resulting from the day.

4:00pm: Session End
